An Eva electrically (Motorised) actuated UPVC butterfly valve is an automated flow control device made from Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (UPVC) that uses an electric motor to operate. It is widely used in corrosive environments, water treatment, and chemical processing because of its corrosion resistance, durability, and low maintenance needs.
How it works
An electric motorised actuator replaces the manual lever or gearbox typically found on a butterfly valve, allowing for automatic and remote operation.
- The electric (Motorised) actuator is mounted on top of the UPVC butterfly valve's shaft, adhering to ISO 5211 standard pads.
- Upon receiving an electrical signal, the motor rotates the valve's disc 90 degrees to either block or allow the flow of liquid.
- The actuator can be configured for simple on/off functions or for modulating control, which allows for precise adjustments of the flow rate.
- Weatherproof or flameproof models are available for specific environmental needs.
Key features
- Corrosion resistance: The UPVC body and disc are highly resistant to corrosive chemicals, making the valve suitable for harsh industrial environments.
- Automatic and remote control: Electric actuators enable the valve to be operated remotely or as part of a larger automated system, improving efficiency and reducing the need for manual labor.
- Tight shut-off: The design provides a hermetic seal between the disc and the valve body when closed, preventing leaks.
- Lightweight and durable: UPVC is significantly lighter than metal, making the valve easier and more cost-effective to install and maintain.
- Fail-safe options: Actuators can be configured to automatically open, close, or hold their position upon power failure for increased safety.
- Multiple configurations: Actuators can offer on/off control for a full 90-degree turn or modulating control for more precise adjustments.
Common applications
Electrically (Motorised) actuated UPVC butterfly valves are a common choice for industries that handle corrosive or sensitive fluids and require automated control.
- Water and wastewater treatment: Regulating the flow of fresh water, corrosive effluents, and wastewater.
- Chemical processing: Controlling a wide range of chemicals and acids.
- HVAC systems: Regulating the flow of chilled or hot water in commercial and industrial heating and cooling systems.
- Aquaculture and agriculture: Automating the distribution of water in aquaculture farms and large-scale irrigation systems.
- Marine applications: Used for ballast water and bilge water in shipbuilding, where saltwater resistance is crucial.
